Executive Director of the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission
Join us Monday October 23rd from 10:30am - 11:30am at at the Glen Theater in Watkins Glen, NY with Nora Brown, Executive Director of the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission to discuss New York State's Film Tax Credit Program, past/present productions in the region, and the opportunities to get involved.
Nora is a Rochester Area native with over 30 years of Film and Video Production experience, not just locally but nationally and even internationally. Her body of work includes; Commercial Broadcast Production, Documentary, Music Video, Corporate and Feature Films.
Beginning as a Production Assistant and working her way up the chain of command, her behind-the- camera efforts have been instrumental in the production of numerous independent features, as well as major feature projects.
Since 2008 Nora has been working in the capacity of Executive Director of the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission (an AFCI certified Film Commissioner) marketing the region to Film Producers and Locations Managers. The Film Commission works to attract production spending to the region, build the infrastructure and support services, act as liaison for out of town and locally based production, as well as advising state lawmakers on legislation to enhance the NYS Film Incentive Program for productions that choose the region as their location destination.
Nora has served as Artistic Director for the High Falls Film Festival since 2015. She serves on the WXXI/The Little Theatre Community Advisory Board and is a founding board member of the Bentonville Film Festival. She is a member of NYWIFT (New York Women in Film & Television), AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers), NYPA (New York Production Alliance) and AFCI (Association of Film Commissions International)
In addition , Nora is holds an adjunct position at RIT School of Film and Animation, and Monroe Community College (Visual and Performing Arts Program) teaching a course in THE MOVIE BUSINESS.
Dr. Kevin Gahagan
Senior Manager, Technology Strategy, Corning Glass Technologies
In his role as senior manager of technology strategy, Kevin Gahagan guides Corning’s world leading display, cover glass, and flexible glass businesses on emerging trends in manufacturing, materials, and display interface technologies. Gahagan leads a team of analysts to identify new sources of value and product concepts to feed Corning’s early-stage innovation portfolio. He serves as an active member and past chair of the SID Technical Subcommittee on e-Paper and flexible displays, as well as on the OLED Association Board of Directors.
Gahagan holds a Ph.D in Physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and held a post-doctoral fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory prior to joining Corning.
